How Hypnotherapy Works

Hypnotherapy is supportive because it helps your conscious and subconscious minds work together. During hypnosis, your mind enters a natural state of focused awareness, calm yet present, open yet in control. It is similar to the state just before sleep or during deep meditation—where you feel deeply relaxed but still aware.

In this receptive state, your brain produces more theta waves—the same waves linked to deep relaxation, subconscious learning and vivid visualisation. You may also experience alpha waves which create a centred, reflective state where new insights can naturally emerge.

At the same time, the default mode network—the part of your brain that runs habitual thought patterns, quietens down. This allows you to step outside of your usual mental loops, access greater cognitive flexibility, and explore new ways of thinking and responding.

Through a combination of hypnosis and psychotherapy we can gently shift limiting beliefs and patterns, allowing your subconscious to align with your conscious goals. Hypnotherapy doesn’t take away your control, it helps you access your inner resources in a more intentional way.

Anneliis’ approach of hypno-psychotherapy, blends hypnosis and psychotherapy to go beyond surface-level symptoms and uncover the deeper subconscious patterns that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Instead of forcing change through willpower and effort, this process allows your subconscious to naturally align with what you truly want. Once this happens, change is inevitable.

Ready to work with your subconscious mind to create the life you are ready for? Hypnotherapy is here for you. Online hypnotherapy and in-person hypnotherapy sessions are available to support your journey. If you’re ready to work with your subconscious, not against it, let’s begin.

Understanding Your Minds Protective Patterns

If you feel stuck, repeating the same patterns despite your best efforts to change, you are not alone. This isn’t a sign of failure or limitation—it is simply your subconscious mind holding onto what it knows.

Every day, there is a quiet interplay between your conscious and subconscious. Think of your mind like a well co-ordinated ship. Your conscious mind is the captain—deciding on destinations, making plans, and charting the course. Meanwhile, your subconscious mind is like the crew below deck, quietly steering according to the map it’s always used—one shaped by early experiences, beliefs and automatic responses. If the captain wants to reach a new destination but the crew keeps using the old map, it can feel like you are working against yourself.

When your conscious desires conflict with these deeply embedded subconscious patterns, you may experience resistance, self-sabotage, or emotional roadblocks—not because you lack willpower or ability, but because your subconscious is prioritising familiarity and safety over change. This can feel frustrating, like you’re stuck in a loop.

But here’s the empowering truth. Your subconscious mind isn’t just a storehouse of old patterns—it’s also your greatest ally in transformation. Once it understands that change is safe and supportive, it naturally moves towards it.
